Searching for a cost-effective method of determining sorption properties for the industrial use of CO2 capture

Abstract The study focuses on laboratory testing of carbon-dioxide adsorption. It compares three methods used to determine the capacity adsorbents proposed for CO 2 capture. tests have been performed two samples, namely natural clinoptilolite and a 13X molecular sieve. Two were dynamic one was static. first method evaluated based change in volume fraction before after fixed-bed adsorber. For same purpose, second gravimetric procedure. static detected pressure during capacities determined mole fractions 5, 10, 13 20% at temperatures 30 40 °C atmospheric compared. apparatus with adsorber made it possible perform also overpressures 5 bar lower temperatures. obtained apparatuses showed good agreement. maximum (3.32 mmol g −1 ) sample 10 partial 120 kPa and, conversely, lowest (0.12 kPa. There no significant difference standard deviations between (0.014–0.036 ). required orders magnitude more gas experiment challenging operate evaluate data.
